Environment and safety

Fire Department

We encourage residents to please put their Civic Numbers on their properties and ensure they can be clearly seen from the road. This is essential for emergency crews to effectively get to residents in time of emergency.

Keep up to date with news and safety tips from our Volunteer Fire Department on their Facebook Page.

Walk Safe

Incorporating walking into your routine is excellent for pleasure and improved health.

We remind residents to ensure you walk on the side of the road facing traffic and to wear reflective clothing to ensure you are recognizable to oncoming traffic.

When walking remember the 3 R's of walking on a road side: "Reflective, Right Arm to the Road, Read the Drivers Eyes"

Swimming Season

During the summer months while "The Tide" is in use please ensure to use caution when driving in this area. Children are crossing the road to go to the store and it is difficult to see oncoming traffic coming down over the hill. There have been several near hit events each year with children in this area.

Please use the garbage bins put on site at the "The Tide" to keep the beach beautiful and clean for all community members to enjoy.

Charcoal BBQ's have been installed. Please use these with caution.

Road Safety

Speeding is an ongoing concern on our roads. We have been working in cooperation with the RCMP towards controlling this issue. Report all speeding to the RCMP detachment in Holyrood at 229-3892.

We remind residents to be aware of posted speed limits and to abide by the rules of the road to ensure everyone's safety. There are many blind corners and driveway's in the community and we ask residents to use extreme caution.

Garbage and Recycling

The town has regular scheduled garbage and recycling pick-up. Please restrict use of burning barrels when possible as this contributes negatively to the environment and air quality of other residents.

The town has an annual hazardous waste collection program and we ask that these items be retained until this day is announced in the spring.

Public park garbage bins are not to be used for residential waste or disposal of fish cleaning remains.

Recycling bins are available for purchase. Please contact the town hall for more information.
